Scholarly articles (also known as peer-reviewed or refereed articles):
- Author: Academics, scholars, experts, and scientists
- Audience: Other academics, scholars, and students
- Review Process: Peer-reviewed by other academics prior to publication
- Citations: Uses citations throughout the article and in the bibliography
- Uses an academic writing style
- It contains an abstract, bibliography/works cited section, and in-text citations
- Usually published in a journal by researchers from a university or association
