Chicago Style uses two different documentation styles:
- Notes Bibliography System - most frequently used in literature, history, and the arts.
- Sources are cited in numbered footnotes or endnotes.
- Author-Date System - preferred by those working in the social sciences.
- Sources are briefly cited in the text, usually in parentheses, by author’s last name and year of publication.
