How do I find something that's on Course Reserve?

Answer

Course Reserves is our collection of textbooks that are reserved by campus instructors and kept at the library’s Ask Us Desk. Most items check out for 2 hours, although some can be borrowed for 4 hours, 1 day, or 3 days. These books have a limited checkout time so everyone in a course has access to them, and the library provides photocopiers and scanners. Here’s how to search course reserves:

  1. Start at the Course Reserves page.
  2. If you know the title of the book, search for the title in the search bar under "Students: Locating Course Reserves."
  3. If the library has your textbook, write down its call number (usually a combination of letters and numbers) and bring that to the Ask Us Desk.
  4. If you don't know the title, but know your professor's name or course number, click on "search for materials here" under "Students: Locating Course Reserves."
  5. On the following page, you can search with either your instructor’s name or your course number--just use the tabs near the top of the page to switch between the two search options.
  6. If the library has your textbook, write down its call number (usually a combination of letters and numbers) and bring that to the Ask Us Desk.
